The humanitarian organization “Voices of Faith” announced a live streaming event on March 8th that will include an international panel of women  activists sharing their story.  Burundian humanitarian, Marguetite Barankitse, commonly called “Maggy”, will be featured on the show that will take place at the Vatican.

Maggy is the founder of Maison Shalom, created in 1993 to provide shelter to orphans and needy children of all ethnic backgrounds. She has received several Awards including a 2008 UNESCO Prize, and the 2016 Aurora Prize for Awakening Humanity . But after speaking out against president Pierre Nkurunziz’s 3rd mandate in 2015, she felt threatened and was forced to flee Burundi . She now resides in Rwanda, but continues to run Maison Shalom from afar.
