This Tuesday, September 6, 2022, President Evariste Ndayishimiye inaugurated, in the presence of the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, the RUZIBAZI hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 15 Megawatts, in the commune and province of Rumonge, 43 km south of Bujumbura.
The power station consists of a gravity dam, a feeder canal, a power station, a restitution canal, a transformer station and an electric transmission line.
“China and Burundi are moving forward hand in hand : Good friends, good partners and good brothers”, said these great personalities on this occasion.
The Chinese ambassador Zhao Jiangping reaffirmed China’s commitment to energy self-sufficiency, adding that “This is a starting point for win-win cooperation between the two countries.
The Head of State warmly thanked the Chinese government and people for this unconditional and very important support in the development of Burundi.
“China has been able to assess our needs and manages, through this very important support in electricity, to accompany us in our objective to see every mouth have to eat, and every pocket of money,” said President Ndayishimiye recalling the sectors of intervention of China, including the agricultural sector, especially in the improvement of seeds, education, and energy.
The President took this opportunity to remind all Burundians to go to their development activities instead of listening to what he called “satanic agents”, obstacles to the development of the country.
