Former Barcelona star Neymar is desperate to seal a return to LaLiga after failing to settle into life in France and Real Madrid could offer him a sensational route back.
Madrid-based publication AS claim Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is keen on making Neymar their latest Galactico but will have to break the transfer record if he is to land the Brazilian.
Paris Saint-Germain will demand £228million (Sh31b) if they are to cash in on a player they forked out £200m on last summer.
Injured star Neymar was at the Stade de France on Tuesday night to cheer on his team-mates as they defeated Les Herbiers 2-0 in the French Cup final.
He changed into his PSG strip to celebrate with his team-mates after wearing a suit to the Stade de France for the final against the third division minnows.
AS claim Perez has had an ‘obsession’ with Neymar ever since the Brazilian trained with Real Madrid as a teenager in 2006.
Real Madrid had the chance of signing the then 16-year-old 12 years ago but decided against paying just 60 thousand euros for him.
Perez appears to have failed to live that mistake down and is now keen on making up for the costly error which saw Neymar star in two of Barcelona’s title wins.
And this summer could see Perez finally land the 26-year-old as the attacker is far from happy in France.
Neymar scored 19 goals in 20 Ligue 1 games to help PSG win the title but the Brazilian’s time in France has been full of tension.
Reports in the early part of the season suggested he had fallen out with Edinson Cavani after the duo argued over penalty kick duties.
Neymar has been out of action since the end of February.
